Does anyone here know WHERE in L.A. the new AGP will be?

Oh, the anticipation!

I know on the website it's slated to open in spring 2006, but Los Angeles, itself, is humongous.

Downtown? Near any beaches? Near Hollywood and the touristy areas?

We visited AGPNY this summer, and loved the fact that there's at least 10,000 other places to go (not for DD and I, who could spend all day there, but for DH who wouldn't be as interested.) DD and I want to visit AGP again, but wondered if there will be any other attractions within walking distance? I'll bet many of you in the NY area would say NY is the best location, and I might agree.

What does anyone know here about the L.A. store?

I heard about it being in "The Grove" but I don't really know where or what that is.

I think it is near somewhere called the 'farmers market'? ??? I would map quest it.

AGPLA is right there at the Farmer's Market. Plus there is other shopping there. Also nearby is LaBrea Tar Pits, LA Natural History Museum and for your DH there is the Peterson Automobile Musuem. The address for the auto museum is 6060 Wilshire Blvd.(at Fairfax,) It is right across the street from The History Museum and just down the street from La Brea Tar pits. AGPLA and the museums are about a mile apart. So, I guess that could be walking distance. AGPLA is in LA right below Hollywood. Hollywood Blvd and the Hollywood tourist things would be to far to walk but definately near each other to see both in the same day. Beaches are way to far to walk.

I will tell you other fun things to do. The Grove is not in downtown LA, it's in West LA, closer to Beverly Hills. The Grove is close to the Beverly Center (if you want a more traditional mall [img]wink.gif[/img] ) which has more shopping for clothes.

The LACMA, near the Tar Pits, is AWESOME. I love to go there and wander. Here's the thing a lot of people don't know - if you go after 5 PM (on weekdays, at least), it's free! And I think it's open until 9 PM, though you'll have to double check. You can also find street parking near it fairly easily in the evening (uh - easy for LA standards).

Do you enjoy shopping? How much? You might want to hit up Melrose avenue--they have a lot of fun boutiques, and most of them are reasonably priced.

On a different day (because it's about thirty - forty minutes in traffic) I'd recommend seeing the Getty. They have kids exhibits, and the building itself is great. Another great thing is the museum itself is free, you just have to pay to park ($5) and the tram will take you up the hill.

Do you like movies? If so, you should try to see a movie at Grauman's Chinese theater. This is where all of those famous Hollywood Stars are. Check ahead - you can buy your tickets online, which is much easier. If you don't want to see a movie there (sometimes they aren't showing good movies anyways) you can always just take a tour.

Santa Monica is another good expedition. You can park on 4th st, and visit the 3 rd street promenade or walk down to the Pier, which has a ferris wheel and small amusement park, and the beach! The Promenade is fun on weekends because there are a lot of cool street performers. Break dancers, singers, artist, and a guy who has two "psychic" cats that will tell your fortune for two dollars. I've done it, and it's totally worth the money just to see cats that are so well trained.
